  1. RE: December 2012 Juiced.GS Cover Story

    Ken:

Thanks so much for presenting the Randy Brandt article, "AppleWorks Timed Out — bringing classic functionality to a modern business." It's nice knowing that because so much of what Randy did 20 years ago still had utility, it was worth bringing to a more modern platform.

Moreover, your including the reprint from NAUG's AppleWorks Forum ("The Worlds Number One AppleWorks User") was masterful. It had been a while since I had seen that, and I _still_ find it a wonderful read.

I'll bet the macro and TimeOut app that Randy wrote back then to read the Wicometre data into AppleWorks was a real beauty. In fact, that would be some neat code to examine, but I digress.

There was one question about the modern system that I didn't learn from the article — Did Randy find a way to hook Jack's Wicometre into his new design? If not, I'll bet it's on Jack's wish list.

Anway, great work. Keep it up, Ken!

    Regards.

    Hugh Hood

  2. Hugh, your question triggered some emails with Jack, and it may be a future project, using AppleScript to collect the data and write a text file which PHP can then read for importing to the DB.
